California Divorce Attorney Consultations Free Or Paid Consultation

California Divorce Attorney Consultations Free Or Paid Consultation

Today, we’re going to talk a little bit more about consultations. So we’re talking about going on a consultation with an attorney.

This isn’t applied to us but we are here about giving information and providing information so people have the information they need before getting involved with an attorney because it’s kind of one of my pet peeves if you will.

So we’re talking about going on a consultation with a Divorce attorney and specifically if you should pay for your consultation or if you should find an attorney that’s offering free consultations.

So first of, I have my own opinion on this. And I tell people this every day who may want to talk to an attorney and are maybe looking for a more affordable way of getting that consultation through a free consultation.

But I want to share my opinion with you on this issue.

So if you’re going to go on a consultation for Divorce with an attorney, I feel personally that you should pay for your consultation and here is why.

And basically I’m going to talk to you about the differences so you can see the differences here.

So when you pay for your consultation with the Divorce attorney you are buying their time. You’re paying for their time.

So they are going be there for you. They’re going to answer your questions.

They know that their time is being compensated for their time. So they’re going to spend that hour, the consultations are usually an hour.

They’re going to spend that time answering the legal questions that you have.

Now going in to these consultations we recommend that you have a list of questions that you want to ask before you arrive because people often tell me that they went—the hour they went by very fast.

And they forgot to ask certain questions but the time is up. You can’t go back. You’re going to have to pay for another consultation.

Now here’s why say pay for their time in the consultation. There are ways and I’ll explain in this video there are ways that you can get a free consultation from an attorney.

First of all, some of them are just flat out offer. They offer free 30 minutes.

Generally, it’s a reduced time frame consultation or might not even be in an office consultation.

It may just be 15 or 30 minute phone consultation to discuss your case. But the problem with the free consultation is they don’t give you the legal advice in most cases you’re looking for.

What they’re trying to do by offering a free consultation is trying to sell you more on their services and what they can do for you as opposed to giving you a legal advice which you would get more of if you paid for their time with the paid consultation for your Divorce.

Another way to get a free consultation from an attorney if you’re going to go that route because, honestly if you flat out and don’t have the money then a free consultation is better than no consultation.

In that case what I recommend you do is go to your local County Bar Association. So what you want to do is Google.

So we’re in Los Angeles County, Los Angeles County Bar Association.

If you do that for any county that you’re in there’s going to be a Bar Association that you’ll find.

The Bar Associations are group where the attorneys are members of, but they’re also are an attorney referral network.

So you can call them up, say, “I’m looking for an attorney for Divorce. I live in…” this particular city and they will refer you to an attorney.

And generally the agreement they have with these attorneys is if they refer them to someone for a referral that they’ll offer a free consultation.

That’s how it is in Los Angeles County. If you call them up, the Los Angeles County Bar Association “Hey, I need an attorney for Divorce. I need a consultation.”

They will pick one in at random. They will give you information to the law firm. The law firm will contact you directly to set up the consultation.

And generally it’s a free consultation.

So that’s the best the easiest way to get a consultation for free is to go by that route. But again, I stand by my belief that if you really want to get valuable, legal information you should pay for their time.

And the good news is even if it’s a $300 or $400 an hour attorney, they generally have fix rates for their consultation.

It’s not based on their regular hourly rate. It’s based on flat fee consultations.

You’re going to want to make sure to ask how much it is going to be for the consultation.

5 Traits & 7 Qualities For A Successful Marriage

5 Traits & 7 Qualities For A Successful Marriage

Now we talked about Divorce a lot. I mean that is in every topic, every video, and every podcast we record. We talked about Divorce a lot.

But in this article, I want to talk about an interesting article I came across that was talking about some of the key traits and qualities you should have and your spouse should have to have a successful marriage or you should look for in a future spouse to have a successful marriage.

Now I want to give credit on what editors do. I found this article interesting enough.

I found a —I’ve read an article today talking about how many women are becoming millionaires because of Divorce.

So they’re getting half of their spouses’ assets, either by being bought out or in business or something like that.

And it got me to thinking about just first in California for United States as far as Divorce is concerned I was looking for traits of millionaires because that’s what this article was talking about.

And I came across an article that’s talking about certain traits in millionaire couples. And I’m not going to talk about the millionaire aspect of it.

But I think these traits and key qualities are good for anybody regardless of your level of wealth.

Now the article came from thompsonlaw.ca if you want to read the article on that website.

But I’m just going to pull out from it these key points that the spouse’s found in each of their spouse and what is made for a lasting relationships.

And just kind of the off topic the article was talking about millionaires in general. And some of the traits and qualities they saw in each other.

And I want to share that with you. But they’re also talking about that millionaires lived longer. I’m sorry they don’t live longer. They have longer marriages.

And they wanted to see, okay, if there’s longer marriages, is it just the money or is there a certain traits and qualities that they looked in their spouse. And is that the reason for the long term marriage.

So that’s why I want to bring this up because it works for millionaires it should probably work for the rest of us as well.

So in this article it says both spouses identify and credit each other as having certain important trait. Of these the most important they both agree on and identify in each other are unselfish, caring, forgiving, patient, understanding, discipline and virtuous.

Now of course, these are very impactful words. And it just goes without saying that if both parties are focusing or have these traits of being unselfish, caring, forgiving, patient, understanding, discipline and virtuous, I think you would agree that your marriage should last.

Or at least have the better than not chance of lasting, if we’re doing those, because as I’ve been married now for a long time.

I do have a lot of those traits. But I know that there are times when I’m not or when I’m definitely being selfish, sometimes not caring. Forgiving? I’m easily—I easily forgive.

My wife does not—Man! She can hang on to some anger for a given amount of time. I think women have that all going for them.

I’m patient. I’m getting more patient as life goes on. Understanding, I’m pretty good in that. Discipline, yes. Virtuous, yes!

So those were the main traits that both spouses identify with each other in having a long term marriage or successful marriage.

And of course you know if you do those, if you have those traits you are going to probably have better than not chance of having a long term happy marriage.

Now let’s talk about the key qualities says nearly all spouses see five key qualities in their spouses and agree on the importance of these qualities in contributing to a successful and lasting marriage.

So you have the traits. And then you have these key qualities in their spouses. And it says—here they are. Honest, responsible, loving, capable and supportive and in that order, so honest, responsible, loving, capable and supportive.

So if you take the five key qualities and I think it was seven traits these are very powerful traits and qualities if one were to have them all and was able to carry through with those all the time and both spouses would did that which in this case that was the case, then you can see that, that would definitely make a longer lasting successful marriage.

So if we work on those areas, knowing that these have been identified in this report that if you don’t have these qualities perhaps work on having these qualities and see if you can either turn around your marriage or start making it a more successful one if you’re already in good shape.

One of the things I wanted to point out is this goes back to the millionaire mindset. I guess you would say, it says millionaire husbands found their wives physically attractive when they first met them but were drawn to them by much more.

So and then it says that non-millionaires the article goes on that non-millionaires look at mostly how attracted they are to their wife or their future wife and not much more.

Just the attractiveness and throw out intelligence, throw out any other attribute that they may have.

So I think if that is definitely a dividing factor. So they found their wives physically attractive when they first met them but were drawn to them much more.

They were attracted by their future wives intelligence, sincerity, cheerfulness, reliability and affection in nature.

And it says here, this contrast with non-millionaire men who considered physical attractiveness as the overwhelming basis of attraction early in their relationships.

So I think this was a great article. I know we talked about Divorce a lot, so, I want to talk about maintain your marriage because as you know we are not here in support of Divorce.

We’re just here to provide an alternative to attorneys when going to Divorce and helping you through your Divorce case in California.

But for me, I’m still married and I’m just going to make sure that I maybe just pay attention, maybe write these traits and qualities down and we’ll make sure to work on them on a daily basis because I’d like to maintain my marriage as well.

Tim Blankenship at Divorce661.com, please give us a call if you have any questions about Divorce in California, I’d be happy to help you.

Thanks for tuning in and we’ll talk to you soon.

Cost To Maintain Pre Divorce Lifestyle After Divorce Higher

Cost To Maintain Pre Divorce Lifestyle After Divorce Higher

Today, we’re going to talk about some of the financial concerns or some things you should be considering or looking forward at a Post Divorce or if you’re going to go through a Divorce things that are probably going to come up relatively soon.

When we file Divorce cases for folks, one of the main concerns of course is financial. The distribution of property and assets and debts is a huge portion of your Divorce.

And if you don’t have children in fact that’s probably everything, dividing up your assets and debts and pensions, income, spousal support, that’s a big thing when going through a Divorce.

It’s the big part of Divorce, so much so, that in the paperwork process of going through a Divorce in California, the biggest part the biggest challenge or the biggest part of the paperwork I should say is financial disclosure.

Listing out assets and debts and how much you make and how much you’ve saved. How much the house is worth? And all of your property is huge.

So outside of that the other things are going to be children. But a big thing, big part of Divorce is about money and finances.

So what I wanted to talk about today is I always tell my clients when they come in, ‘Your money is not going to go as far after you get Divorce. It’s going to be at least or nearly twice as expensive to operate two separate households.’

So if you are a married couple living together both spouses working and both incomes for  a single household, a single rent or mortgage payment, a single power bill, a single water bill, and so on and so forth, that money now divided operating under two households, you’re never—I shouldn’t say never, but it is a great chance that you are not going to live at the same financial ability or the same–what I want to say, you’re not going to be able to live the same comfortable life you did when you are married.

Your money is not–you’re going to have less money. And you’re going to have more bills.

I was reading an article here that says basically that filing a Divorce the cost is usually 25-50% more to maintain your Pre-Divorce lifestyle.

A single household becomes twice as expensive as each spouse looses the benefit of the other spouse’s income.

So that’s exactly what we’re saying here. You’re going to have less money, more bills because you’re now having your own household, your own household bills.

Each of you, you’re going to have your rent or mortgage, your power bills and so on.

And so the money is not going to go as far, even if there is spousal support being paid, even if there is a child support being paid, regardless if you’re receiving the spousal support or child support or paying that, you’re still going to have lesser income and more bills.

And therefore the 25-50% more cost to operate your lifestyle. So I know that that’s a concern of clients of mine.

In fact many of our clients maintain a single household until the Divorce is finalized purely for financial –I shouldn’t say gain but to kind of put off the lost they’re going to have when they have to maintain two households.

It’s never a better scenario. Okay, I mean if the Divorce might be a good scenario for you. But the housing situation and financially unless you guys are well off it’s going to be a lesser livelihood.

You’re not going to live as well. You’re going to have more debts and less income to pay those debts.

So you’re not going to have the same lifestyle. That’s the word I was looking for.

You’re not going to have the same lifestyle you did prior to the Divorce happening. So let’s keep those things in mind.

This was a good article. These things that we’re trying to talk about more than just here’s how you get Divorce and what we can do for you to help you through your Divorce in California.

But just some things you want to consider before going through a Divorce or if you’re in the middle of Divorce just keep in mind the financial lifestyle you live afterwards, unless you’re wealthy, of course, it’s not going to be the same or even if you are wealthy, it’s not just going to be same when you’re supporting two households.

Tim Blankenship Divorce661.com, we’re also on Divorce Master Radio on our podcast where you can get these on demand radio shows as well as on our YouTube channel.

I appreciate you tuning in and watching and we’ll talk to you soon.

Will Same Sex Marriages Cause Divorce Boom

Will Same Sex Marriages Cause Divorce Boom

Today, we are talking about Gay Divorce rates. And the topic of, if you think there’s going to be a boom amongst folks that were gay and then who had married.

I was talking to an attorney over the weekend. And he seems to think that there is going to be a boom when it comes to Gay Divorce.

The reason being obviously is that we’re just–a lot of States have had the gay marriage going on for quite some time.

Some States are just getting on board. But as more and more gay people get married, the idea or the thought here is that there’s going to be more Divorce cases overall, both straight and gay Divorces.

We already have a high Divorce rate among married couples, husband and wife. And the idea here is that, are there going to be more Divorce cases because we have more married couples, gay or otherwise.

And I think is the answer is obviously, yes. I’ve read an article that I’m looking at now. And they’re basically saying, their title was Divorce rate remains steady despite same sex unions.

And I think what we’re going to see as people more of gay people becomes married we are going to see at least the same percentages of Divorces as we do in man and woman marriages.

I think it’s just we’re going to have more married people, so, more people are going to get Divorced.

I wonder what we’ll see in the years to come if there’s going to be more Divorce cases, as the Divorce rates going to be higher among same sex unions or is they’re going to follow along the same path as man and wife couples as far as the amount of Divorce cases or percentages of Divorces occurring in United States.

So only time will tell. I think that if I had to guess that the Divorce rate among same sex couples is going to be relatively the same of that of couples in man and wife marriages, but only time will tell.

There are only a few years in some cases in to same sex union. So we’re going to see what happens then.

But I don’t see any reasons why it should be more or any reason why there would be less Divorces among same sex union.

I’m just interested what people would have to say about that. We’re getting this out on our podcast and on our YouTube channel, we’re doing this simultaneously.

And I think it’s an interesting topic. I see that there’s lot of people that have talked about it.

Articles that have been written about same sex marriages. And what the Divorce rates are going to be, and or if it will be higher or lower than traditional married couples.

But I think time will tell. I was talking to as well over the weekend one of my cousins. And she knows that I’m in the Divorce business.

And she automatically assumed that there’s going to be some type of boom here in the near future. Whether that’d be one year or five years, we don’t know.

But I think as the marriages go on in same sex marriages, we’re going to eventually see the Divorce rates jump the percentages just because of the longer you’re married.

I’m not saying the longer your marriage, the more chances of getting Divorce.

But it’s a little bit of fact there if you – a lot people are getting through their marriages, three or four years, they’re talking about a famous gay couple who finally got married and waited a long time to do so.

And five short years later, they got Divorced. And so they’re just talking about is this going to be something we see.

I think it’s going to be the same percentages that we have in regular marriages. I don’t see why would it be higher, or, why would it be lower.

But again only time will tell.
