Not Divorced Yet But Remarried : Does This Void Your Current Marriage?

We had a gal who became a client of ours on the spot who recently learned that her prior marriage was never dissolved. Meaning her divorce was never finalized in her first marriage and she had already remarried.

This happens more often than you would think. In this particular case, she called the court and someone told her that because of this, her current marriage is void. Someone does not know the difference between void and voidable.

I explain in the video and podcast below.

California Divorce : What County Can I File My Divorce Case In?

When going through a divorce in California there are certain rules that apply to where you can file your divorce case. First you have to determine which County you are going to file in and then you have to determine which branch court within the county you are going to file in. You can’t just pick and choose which County or Court you want to file your California divorce case in.

I explain in the below video and podcast.

Santa Clarita Child Custody Orders : How To Obtain Custody Orders When Never Married

When you have a child and are not married and need child custody orders, the court first needs to establish paternity of the father before they can make orders for child custody. This means that the court needs to establish the father as the father before making custody orders. This is the case even if the father signed the birth certificate and the declaration of paternity at the hospital. I explain in the video and podcast.

Our End Of Year San Diego Trip

Today is Monday January 4th, 2016 and we just got back in from our little 5 day vacation to San Diego.  I tell you the weather really cooperated with us.  Very lucky.  We had 72 degree weather and one day that was 78!  Pretty good for winter.

Here is Dog Beach

We took our little motorhome, but we rented a little cottage at a dog friendly place. It was so much nicer than staying in a hotel because we got to use all the open space and the dog could run free… with supervision of course.  Because there were 6 cottages in total, the center became the common ground and was a great place to BBQ and have lunch in the beautiful weather.

We did several “touristy” things including whale watching, fishing and a dinner cruise. The rest of the time was walking the dog at the beach and riding our bikes around town.  We did see several whales and in fact the guide said it was a record day for whale sightings.

My 2 brothers were supposed to join us for the fishing trip and the morning of he cancelled on us so just Tyler and I went. This is the photo we sent to him for not showing up.

flip off

All in all it was a good trip. Too short if you ask me, but one of the longer trips we were able to take this year. Never really left California as we were just too busy to get out of town for more than an extended weekend.

Well, Happy New Year and let’s make it a good one. Big plans for Divorce661.com this year.

Here is another photo from our trip…

Santa Clarita Divorce : Time Is Money & Self Help Is Not Free

You are going through a Santa Clarita Divorce or anywhere in California and want to be money conscience. I get it. But, over the last few years of owning this business, I have seen people who try to do their own divorce end up spending more money and a ton more time (which also translates into dollars from lost wages)

Don’t bet me wrong, i understand wanting to save money on your divorce in Santa Clarita but you can’t do it at the expense of missing time from work at the court’s self help centers, waiting in line, and having to go down there several times only to be treated badly by the employees of the court.

I know I am not painting a rosy picture, but it is the truth. Ask anybody who has been down to the court’s self help centers and they will tell you how awful it is.

We have both a full-service and self help online divorce service so there is no reason why you can’t afford one of our services.

To check out our online self help services go to California Divorce Tutor for more information.
